In 2006 and 2007, EHGW co-sponsored protests of Montauk shark tournaments with the Humane Society of the United States.

In 2006, the EHGW commissioned Frank Verret to conduct the first-ever scientific survey of the deer population in East Hampton. Using a ground-based, distance sampling method, Verret estimated 3, 293 deer. We presented his written report to the Town Board and all East Hampton libraries.
